What is a glowing ocean?

A glowing ocean is a awesome sight. But why is this happening? Do you think it’s just the water? Actually it’s not this happens when bioluminescent plankton are disturbed. Scientists are not positive Why they give off their glow. I love glowing oceans what about you?
